The following recipe for Teochiu goose was very kindly donated by Bee Zhang, The Cockroach Catcher’s Wife. After reading the post on Chinese New Year and The Goose, I asked her if she would reveal her family recipe. So, here it is!

My recent trip to Bologna, Italy was the first one I’d ever made for the specific, sole purpose of eating, as opposed to sightseeing, shopping or visiting friends, with good food as a bonus. My husband’s been on an eating trip to Bologna though, so when he suggested it, I jumped at the chance of travelling to eat, or ‘traveleating‘, as I call it. This is after all what World Foodie Guide is all about!

There was no question about Rodrigo not making it to the Bologna restaurant shortlist when I did my research about two months ago. My father-in-law loves this restaurant and still reminisces about the mashed potato with Parmesan that he had – so simple and satisfying. My husband had also planned to go there with his friend on his last eating trip to Bologna, but missed the reservation because of a delayed train. So we were determined to visit it this time, and booked a month in advance.

Caminetto D’Oro (or Golden Hearth – the restaurant has translated the name into various languages as part of their logo), is another place that made it to my shortlist of six for our eating trip in Bologna, which ended a few days ago. Having read some interesting reviews online, I made the booking a month ago. The family-run trattoria has been around since 1927, and owned by the Carati family since 1980. The website is stylish with black and white photos, but it’s all in Italian, and the menu has to be downloaded as a zip file, making it too difficult (for me at least) to access beforehand.
