I am so disappointed. David Thompson had an awesome restaurant in Sydney with a fine dining section and a take away section. Both parts were full to overflowing every night. Awesome food. Also his book, Thai Food, is a bible of Thai food and eating information and Thai cooking. He is like a guru of Thai food. How disappointing that his London venture is less than what we would expect.

Yes, I have to mention how horrible it was to bite into a 5p-sized piece of palm sugar that hadn’t melted into the papaya salad dressing! Also disappointing was the fact that the service was, as you mentioned, pretty bad (and the fact that the waiters never bothered to come top up our glasses, though they were tiny!). It’s sad that the bad elements of the meal stuck out more than the positive ones… the amuse bouches were definitely a mastery of flavour combinations, but sadly… Oh, and I just remembered not being able to discern the crab meat in my coconut cupcake starter. I think it was like your curry, drowned out by the sauce!

It was certainly good to meet you though, and not feel so silly for being the only one taking multiple photographs of the dishes ;)

I’m so behind on blogging… there’s so much Spain material to get through too!

VegeYum Ganga: Well, I’d like to think it was just a one-off bad experience, but from what I’ve read…It was a shame!

Charmaine: Welcome back from Spain! I hope you had a good time and look forward to reading about it. Come to think of it, I completely forgot there was supposed to be crab meat in your coconut cupcake…Grrr
