A monthly summary about World Foodie Guide …
Susan S. Cheung wrote her second article Food, Glorious Food! about my views on food (and World Foodie Guide!) for British Chinese community website DimSum. It’s brought me much traffic, so a big thank you to you, Susan.
Various people have contacted me via my Flickr account, asking to use some of my photos. One of the photos I took at Mercato delle Erbe in Bologna, Italy, has been featured on travel guide WhatsOnWhen. It will also feature on the Frommer’s site. A photo of my husband’s penne with home-made pesto sauce has appeared in San Pellegrino’s article ‘The Pesto Manifesto’, while another photo of a truly delicious dish, baccala alla livornese from Ristorante Diana in Bologna, Italy, has appeared in Acqua Panna’s article ‘Tuscany by Vespa’. A Russian wine site also contacted me about my Hakkasan photos. Seeing as all my photos are taken with my mobile phone camera (3.2 MP), it’s quite flattering!
In March, I experimented with making fresh dashi stock and miso soup, while my husband made borscht for lunch. I had meze at north London-based Greek restaurant Babinondas, dim sum at Chinatown restaurant Gerrard’s Corner and a cheap and tasty Chinese meal at HK Diner. I also researched the origins and background of Chinese dumplings and dim sum, and wrote about the ‘interesting’ search terms people use when trying to find information about Chinese food etiquette and customs, in How To Eat With Chinese Stick. Finally, I took a long culinary journey down memory lane, with My Top 20 Foodie Travel Experiences.
Posts for the next two months have been planned, along with research into dim sum restaurants for a post on Where to Eat Dim Sum in London. This is proving harder than I thought, and I’m worried I’ll be sick of eating dim sum by the time I finish the post!
Also, views have increased dramatically since January, and I have now had 59,000 views since I started World Foodie Guide last October.
